The blessings asked for in Psalm 143 were withheld from Jesus on that cross and given to Him in His resurrection so that we could enjoy Psalm 143 blessings forevermore:
On that cross, God the Father did not give ear to His Son's pleas for mercy. In His faithfulness He answered Christ with wrath and poured out His righteous judgment upon Him. Though Jesus was the One Living Being Who was righteous before God, God entered into judgment with His suffering servant to save unrighteous sinners. Christ was made God's enemy on that cross and crushed beyond the ground into the grave and faced the darkest darkness anyone has ever faced. Jesus' spirit fainted within Him, and His heart was appalled. He is the greatest thing God has ever done; He is the greatest work of God's hand. Yet on that cross, Jesus stretched out His hands to His Father and found no help; He thirsted for God and found no refreshment; He was not answered quickly; His spirit failed. God's face was hidden from Him, and He did go down to the pit. No steadfast love was shown to Him on that cross though He always trusted perfectly in God. He was not delivered from His enemies, and He fled to God for refuge but found none! He did God's will perfectly as no one has ever done before, and He had God's Spirit without measure. For His name's sake the LORD did not preserve Christ's life, and in God's righteousness His soul was not brought out of trouble! In God's steadfast love for sinners he cut off His own Son to destroy the adversaries of all our souls - through His most beloved Suffering Servant - the LORD Jesus Christ!
And yet, God did answer Him quickly and raised Him from the dead! God did not hide His face from Him but gave Him life and did not let Him stay in the pit! He did hear His Father's steadfast love on the morning of the third day! God delivered Him from all of His enemies and raised Him from the grave because He did all His will perfectly and fled to Him for refuge! The Father did preserve His life and bring His soul out of trouble for His name's sake by the resurrection from the dead! In God's steadfast love He cut off all of our enemies and destroyed every adversary of our souls by cutting off His own Son and raising Him from the dead!
