"That's My King!" Who Takes The Worst Of The Worst And Does The Best Of The Best!

Jesus loves to start with nothing and make everything!
He'll take all the wrongs in the universe and makes them all right!
He'll take everything sad, bad, and mad in your life and make it all glad as if it never had when He brings you to His everlasting Dad!
He chose Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who were liars, cowards, cheaters, and deceivers, but by grace through faith He made them the fathers of the faithful, fearless, and fruitful!
With His Apostles He started with less than nothing: they were bad in the wrong direction, and He made them all good except for one and even that was apart of His plan!
Deniers, doubters, double-crossers, and denouncers were all chosen as His Apostles, but He died for sinners like them so that they all could be saved!
He's the King of the come-from-behind victory; He loves to wait until winning seems impossible, and then He always overcomes in triumphant victory!

That's my King! Do you know Him?!

He loves to give barren women children to show His power to choose the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are so that nobody will glory in His presence because the glory's all His!
He loves to win battles with the smallest, weakest armies to get all the glory for Himself – the Lord of war and the General of generals!
We do things and mean them for evil, but He means them all for good!
He's working everything for the good of His people!
On that cross, what was truly the worst of the worst crimes and sins ever committed was meant by Him to be the best of the best accomplishments ever imagined for the salvation of sinners and for the glory of God!
And God raised Him up from the dead to show His satisfaction with His Son and so that He might redeem all those who would ever turn from their sins and trust in Him!
He took the worst situation imaginable – the crucifixion of the Son of God – and turned it into the greatest situation ever conceivable – a way for sinners to be reconciled to God!
He can take whatever is the worst of the worst situations in your life right now and turn it into the best of your bestest dreams if you keep trusting Him right now and forever!

That's my King! That's my King! Will you trust Him today and forevermore?!

The greatest, most glorious, and most beautiful of all marriages that has ever been or ever will be in all the universe - the marriage that all other marriages should be patterned after - that marriage is an interracial marriage:

Jesus, the Jewish carpenter (and God!), joined as one flesh to His blood bought bride made up of every tribe, tongue, people, and nation!

"That's My King!" Who Felt Like No Other!

No man ever felt like this Man!
He was utterly furious with wrath and anger and grieved in His heart all at the same time!
He was love on fire, burning with indignation against all which is unlovely!
He rejoiced in the Holy Spirit with an exuberantly glad joy this world has never seen!
He possesses fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore that will fill you to overflowing happiness – good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over!
He wept over Jerusalem and cried out for lost sinners to turn to Him!
His heart throbbed with pity for His people!
He wept over the death of Lazarus!
He was consumed with zeal for His Father's house, and He Himself was that House of houses!
He angrily drove men out of the temple in a whipping fury!
He marveled at the humble faith of foreigners who were outside the Jewish covenant!
He had so much compassion that he burst into tears in public!
He's the Good Shepherd Who rejoices over one lost sheep when it's found!

That's my King! I wonder if you have any feelings for Him today?!

He was moved with pity!
He was compassionate!
He was angry!
He was indignant!
He was consumed with zeal!
He was troubled!
He was greatly distressed!
He was very sorrowful!
He was deeply moved!
He was grieved!
He sighed!
He wept!
He sobbed!
He groaned!
He was in agony!
He's the only One Who feared God alone His whole life long!
He was forsaken by God!
He was surprised!
He was amazed!
He rejoiced very greatly!
He was full of joy!
He greatly desired!

That's my King! Do you know Him?!

He pities and relieves the miseries of His creatures!
He cares about your own pains, sufferings, and sadnesses and those of others more than you ever wish you could!
He loves His Father with a perfectly pure, passionate, powerful love!
He loves sinners with a love that surpasses knowledge!
He feared the winepress of the fury of the wrath of Almighty God so deeply that He sweat like great drops of blood!
He humbled Himself with a humility unparalleled in the universe!
He went from the highest possible position in and outside the universe to the lowest possible position: though God in everlasting glory, He became man; born to poor parents in the feeding trough of a cow; the slaughter of innocent children all around Him; He was spit upon, beaten, mocked, and slaughtered on a tree under the everlasting curse and judgment of God!
He Himself took our infirmities and bore our diseases!
He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows!
He was made like us in all things so that He might be a merciful and faithful High-priest!
He's able to sympathize with our weaknesses because He's been tempted in every way we have, yet without sin!
He was a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief!
But for the joy set before Him He endured the cross!
On that cross He suffered the pains of Hell – the most horrific, eternal pains which are unimaginable – He suffered them for all who would ever turn from their sins and trust in Him!
Death couldn't stop Him; the grave couldn't contain Him; the devil couldn't defeat Him, and He rose up from the dead to a triumphant, conquering, everlasting delight that He shares with all those who would ever repent and believe in Him!

That's my King!

Christ: All The Needs Of His People!

James Meikle wrote:
"From his fullness we have all received one gracious gift after another." (John 1:16)

All plenitude is in Christ, to answer all the needs of His people. In Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily, that out of His fullness I may receive all spiritual blessings!

Have I destroyed myself by sin? I have deliverance from Him who is mighty to save from sin and wrath!

Is my foolish mind darkened? Am I a guilty, polluted, and ruined wretch? Jesus is my wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption!

Is my life fleeting—and passing away like a shadow? Jesus is the Ancient of days, and endures for evermore!

Are my days short-lived and full of trouble? Jesus is my life, the length of my days, and the joy of my heart!

Am I exposed to contempt? Jesus shall be my crown of glory, and diadem of beauty!

Am I traveling through the wilderness? Jesus is my staff, and on Him I lean all the way!

Am I on my last journey to my long home? Jesus is my leader, and my rewarder!

Am I a sheep? Jesus is my pasture, and my green pasture too!

Am I hungry and thirsty? Jesus is my heavenly manna, and gives me to drink of the water of life!

Am I weary? Jesus is my rest and refreshing!

Am I weak? Jesus is my strength!

Am I oppressed and wronged? Jesus is my judge, and my avenger!

Am I reproached? The reproach of His people, Jesus will wipe away!

Am I a soldier? Jesus is my Captain and shield!

Must I fight in the field of battle? Jesus is my armor in the day of war!

Do I sit in darkness? Jesus is my light!

Do I have doubts? Jesus is my counselor!

Am I ignorant? Jesus is my wisdom!

Am I guilty? Jesus is my justification!

Am I filthy? Jesus is my sanctification!

Am I dead in sin? Jesus is my life, and quickens those who are dead in trespasses and sins!

Am I poor? Jesus is the pearl of great price, and has immeasurable riches!

Am I blind? Jesus, and none but He can open the eyes of one born blind!

Am I naked? Jesus has white clothing to cover the shame of my nakedness!

Am I in the very utmost necessity? Jesus is a very present help in time of trouble!

Am I exposed to the hurricanes of adversity? Jesus is a refuge from the storm; a shelter from the blast; rivers of water in a desert; the shadow of a great rock in a weary land!

Am I afraid of being left alone? Jesus will never leave me, nor forsake me!

Do friends and brethren prove false? Jesus is the friend who sticks closer than a brother!

Am I in danger from diseases and death; or from sin and Satan? My life is hidden with Christ in God! When He shall appear, I shall appear with Him — immortal in my body, and glorious in my soul!

Is my case considered in the court of heaven? There Jesus is my Advocate!

Do I offend the Father? Jesus is my Intercessor!

Do I suffer in my body, and am I grieved in my mind? Jesus bore my infirmities, and carried my griefs!

Is my mind disquieted, and my soul debarred from peace? Jesus is my sympathetic High Priest! He was tempted in all points, and knows how to support those who are tempted!

Am I poor in my circumstances? Jesus, the heir of all things! Though He was rich, yet for my sake He became poor, that I through His poverty might be made rich!

Do I suffer in my character? Jesus was numbered with transgressors, called a Samaritan, a glutton, a drunkard, and a devil!

Am I bereaved or alone? Well, Jesus in the fatal night was left alone; all the disciples forsook Him and fled! Jesus, my only friend, can never die!

Must I undergo death and be laid in the grave? Jesus has taken away the sting of death, and robbed the grave of its victory!

Must I rot in the grave? Jesus shall be my resurrection, and raise me to immortality and bliss!

Would I go to God and to glory? Jesus is my way, and must admit me into the palace of the great King, where I shall abide forever!

In summary, Jesus is . . .
my brother,
my physician,
my prophet,
my priest,
my king,
my father,
my head,
my husband!

In eternity, when I shall dwell in the land of bliss, in the city of God — Jesus will be the light thereof! And since I am to worship there forever, He will be the temple of all the redeemed!

My needs are many, but His fullness is infinitely more!

The morning dews and fructifying showers water the fields, and refresh the parched furrows. But what are they, compared to the exhaustless ocean of Jesus?

What is all that I enjoy here below, compared to the exuberant fullness of the heavenly bliss? O! then, how shall my soul be replenished — when possessed of this infinite All, through eternity itself!

Look Unto Jesus And Be Ye Saved!

This will preach . . . .

Look unto Jesus and be saved all the ends of the earth! Look unto Jesus! Many are looking to themselves, but it's no use looking there! You'll never find any comfort in yourselves! Jesus Christ says look unto Me! Look unto Me! I'm sweating great drops of blood! Look unto Me! I'm hanging on the cross! Look unto Me! I'm dead and buried! Look unto Me! I rise again! Look unto Me! I ascend to heaven! Look unto Me! I'm sitting at the Father's right hand! O poor sinner, look unto Me! Look unto Me! Those of you who are miserable in your sins – you will always be miserable – miserable in life and miserable in death – if you don't trust in Jesus Christ! But if you trust Him right now, this moment, you will be saved! Look unto Jesus Christ! Look! Look! Look! You have nothing to do but look to Him and live forever!

Oh What A Lord Of All!

Thoughts on Jesus' walk through the grainfields in Mark 2:23-28 . . .

Jesus created the grain fields they walked in and upholds them all by the Word of His power!
He made the legs everyone used to walk through the fields!
He created the eyes the Pharisees used to see this supposed infraction of the law!
He made the Pharisees' vocal cords used to accuse His disciples of wrong doing!
He created David and the consecrated bread he ate!
He was before David!
He was with David!
And He's forevermore after David and greater Son of David!
Jesus wrote the law!
He obeyed the law perfectly!
He's the fulfillment of the law!
He's the law come in the flesh!
He's greater than the law!
And He's the Lord of all laws!

"That's My King!" Who's Lord Of The Sabbath!

God Almighty made the Sabbath after He created the world in six days and rested on the seventh!
God Almighty commanded the Sabbath on the trembling Mount Sinai filled with fire, smoke, lightning, and thunder!
God Almighty commanded a man to be put to death for picking up sticks on the Sabbath!
And Jesus comes on the scene and boldly declares: "I am Lord, Master, and King even of the Sabbath! The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath!"
Jesus is God Almighty!
By Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through Him and for Him!
He's before all things, and in Him all things hold together!
Without Him nothing was made that was made!
He's our true peace and sabbath rest!
He gives everlasting rest to all the burdened and heavy laden who come and seek refuge in Him!
He's gentle and lowly in heart and gives rest for the soul!
His yoke is easy, and His burden is light!
He gives commandments with just as much authority as His heavenly Father!
When He taught the Law of Moses He said over and over again: "You have heard it said; But I say unto You!"
Whoever does not obey Him shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on them!

That's my King! Do you know Him?!

He's Lord of the most important day in the creation of the world!
He's Lord of the holiest of the holy days of God's people Israel!
He's Lord of what Sabbath always pointed to – the New Heavens and the New Earth in the fully realized Kingdom of God!
He's Lord of every square inch of planet earth!
He's Lord of all creation!
He's Lord of all kings, presidents, rulers, and authorities no matter how good or corrupt they are!
He's Lord of all elections and leaders in public office!
He's Lord of all storms, earthquakes, fires, famines, floods, and frightening accidents!
He's Lord of all sin because He died for sin, turned away the wrath of God from sinners, rose up from the grave, conquered sin and death, and breaks the power of canceled sin and sets the captives free!
His resurrection achievement is so great that it forever changed the day on which His people meet together for worship – we go from Sabbath Saturday to Lord's Day Sunday until He comes back to take us to everlasting rest!
He's Lord of the devil because He came to destroy all the works of the devil!
He's Lord of all the evil that's ever been committed in this world!
And since He's Lord of all evil, though evil people mean evil for evil, He means it all for good!
He's Lord of all the evil in your life, and He means it all for good!

That's my King!

He's Lord of your sin and means to crush every single trace of it all out of your life forever!
He's Lord of your addiction to drugs and alcohol!
He's Lord of your addiction to lust and pornography!
He's Lord of your uncontrollable temper!
He's Lord of your slavery to any idol in your life!
He's Lord of your pride and will obliterate it at any cost!
He's Lord of all the circumstances in your life, and He's working them all for your good if you're His blood bought child!
He's Lord of all the hairs of your head!
He's Lord of all your painful losses, failures, and rejections!
He's Lord of all your sicknesses, diseases, and physical pains!
He's Lord of every sadness you've ever experienced in this life, and He's working it only to increase your everlasting joy throughout all eternity!
He's the Lord Who expects you to submit and follow Him in all that He commands you!
But He's a good and merciful Lord Who forgives you when you fail, upholds you and empowers you to obey Him, and only commands you to do what is best for you and for your greatest and longest lasting joy!
He's Lord of life; Lord of death; Lord of heaven; Lord of hell; Lord of all; and Lord of Lords!

That's my King! That's my Lord!

Burying Your Self Wholly In Christ

Some of my favorite quotations from Die Young . . .
Oswald Chambers: Identification with the death of Jesus Christ means identification with Him to the death of everything that never was in Him.

A. W. Tozer: The blessed ones who possess the Kingdom are they who have repudiated every external thing and have rooted from their hearts all sense of possessing.

Pleasing Him is easy when it comes to what you have been given, because all it requires is thankfulness and trust that what He has given is the best thing for you.

. . . dying young leads to contentment because it sees life as designed and orchestrated by God Himself, meant to perfect those He loves and to draw them away from sin and toward holiness and His perfection. When you die young, circumstances and stuff matter less because self no longer demands to be pleased but to serve the one who pleases.

. . . your sanctification means the death of the part of you that clings to things that God rejects.

. . . to die young is to determine that all of your efforts to engineer your own life are in vain and that God is the only one who can truly set you free.

There is a death that comes that isn't meant to destroy you but to destroy that in you which was never meant to replace the hand of God in your life.

. . . complaint is our crying out for heaven on earth combined with the assumption that we deserve it.

When you look at your lack as something to be bemoaned, or when you feel envy over what you don't have that others do, you are accusing God of deceit and of failing to come through on His promises.

But you can make today the turning point in your life – the point when you determine to completely bury yourself in Christ so deep that nothing can ever really harm you again. When you do that, when His love is all that surrounds you and all that contains you and all that you contain, then life is a whole new ball game. What was down is now up, what was death is now life, what was less is now more, and what was weakness is now strength; there is no more death for you. It is all nothing but life. No one can kill you when you are already dead.
Michael and Hayley Dimarco, Die Young, Burying Your Self In Christ (Wheaton: Crossway, 2012), 30-33, 62, 93, 95, 173.
