"That's My King!" Whose Blood Was Out Poured As The Covenant LORD So We're Clean And Restored Through Our Christ The Reward Who's Only And Always And Ever Adored!

In a heated rage man's blood was shed

Cain killed his brother Abel dead

In envy-lust the ground soaked red

It cried to God, "you're cursed," God said

Sin causes death, from God we've fled

But there's a promise we have read

The Seed will crush the serpent's head

He suffered on that cross and bled

Then conquered death and left it dead!

That's my King! Do you know Him?!

The life is in the blood, so you shall not eat

The blood of bulls and goats that bleat

Jews could only eat the meat

Or be cut off – their hopes delete

But blood of bulls and goats won't treat

The sickness – sin has brought defeat

We need a greater hope complete

It's in the blood of Christ elite

His life and death – the greatest feat!  

On that cross we did mistreat

The LORD of glory Who they beat

His blood poured out like slaughtered meat

He bore God's wrath in all its heat

Then rose to conquer all defeat

And cause the devil to retreat

Now by His blood we are complete

He gave Himself – His blood so sweet!  

We shout with joy in the street!  

His praise always we'll now repeat!

That's my King!

Jesus' blood of the New Covenant is our propitiation

He took away God's wrath so that we could have salvation

Because He died and rose for our eternal justification

He's the New Covenant LORD Who's our bloody mediation

So now we're forgiven and enjoy God's "Righteous!" declaration

Which we have by faith alone in the Christ our blood relation

Now there's no more fear of wrath – no hell-fire or damnation

Through His blood we have redemption from all sinful desolation

From every nation we're brought near by His blood of consecration

Through His blood we now have peace so there's no more agitation

The precious blood of Christ Who is our Lamb of jubilation

Cleanses us from sin so there's no more indignation

By His blood we're freed from sin to live out holy dedication

By His blood alone there will be no more condemnation

And by His blood alone we'll conquer every manifestation and representation of our enemies' perpetration

For the glory of our King Who's our joy and adoration!

That's my King! I wonder if you know Him today?!

I wrote this hymn based on Colossians 3:11, Psalm 73:25-26, 2 Chronicles 20, Psalm 34:10, and Proverbs 18:10. Sing it to the tune for the hymn: Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing

"That's My King!" Who's The Greatest Somebody Who Became A Nobody And Rose As The First New Body And Now He Can Save Anybody So We All Must Tell Everybody About This Somebody Of All Somebodies!

I was convicted of my sin last night at a Young Life camp where the question was asked:  "What is the greatest cry that your sinful flesh thinks it needs?"

My answer:  I want to be Somebody, and I want to have and to hold somebody.

So I fight to look to the only all-sufficient, all-satisfying, glorious, most beautiful Somebody once again:

There's nobody like my Somebody!  Not even close!  If you've found somebody that excites you like this Somebody you better run the other direction from that idol body!

He's the greatest Somebody like no other body has ever been!
He's the famous One, and the One we all should be trying to make more famous among the nations!
He's the Somebody to Whom every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that He is LORD!
He's the Somebody Who heals the sick, gives sight to the blind, and makes the deaf hear!
He's the Somebody Who makes demons flee, cleanses lepers, and raises the dead!
He's the Somebody Who forgives sins, calms the wind and waves, and walks on water!
He's the Somebody Who knows the future, planned the future, and works it all for your good!
He's the Somebody Who is the great I AM come in the flesh!
He's the Somebody Who's the King of kings and LORD of lords!
He's the Somebody Who's the First and the Last and the Beginning and the End!
He's the Somebody Who's the Alpha and the Omega!
He's the Somebody Who lived the only perfectly obedient life and always did His Father's will!
He's the Somebody Who died on that cross and swallowed the wrath of Almighty God!
He's the Somebody Who rose up from the grave and conquered sin, death, and the devil once and for all!

That's my King!  Do you know Him?!  That's my Somebody!

He's the Somebody Who rules and reigns over all!
He's the Somebody Who has all authority in heaven and on earth!
He's the Somebody bigger and better than anything this universe has ever seen!
He's the Somebody Who made the universe and upholds it by the Word of His power!
He's the Somebody in Whom all the fullness of God dwells bodily!
He's the Somebody Who is my LORD and my God!
He's the Somebody Who loves you too much to let you have any other somebody more loved than Himself!
He's the Somebody Who wants to crush all your somebody idols!
He's the Somebody Who alone can satisfy your soul!
He's the Somebody Who alone can give you what you need!
He's the Somebody Who alone can save you from all your sins!
He's the Somebody Who alone can deliver you from God's wrath to come!
He's the Somebody Who alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!

That's my King!

He's the Somebody Who is your only way back to God!
He's the Somebody Who is the resurrection and the life!
He's the Somebody Who is the God of the impossible!
He's the Somebody Who chose things that are not to bring to nothing things that are so that no human being may boast in the presence of God!
He's the Somebody Who can do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond anything we could ever ask or think!
He's the Somebody Who loves like no other lover!
He's the Somebody Who loves the unlovable!
He's the Somebody Who made the very beauty you so long to hold and crave to possess!
He's the Somebody Who alone can give you the affection that you need!
He's the Somebody Who cares for you better than anybody and knows what's best for you!
He's the Somebody Who loves you perfectly and will never leave you nor forsake you!
He's the Somebody Who pursues you even when you run away and treat Him with contempt!
He's the Somebody Who will never give up on you but chases you with goodness and mercy all the days of your life!

That's my King!

He's the Somebody Who is tender and compassionate and tough and compelling all at the same time!
He's the Somebody Who's irresistible!
He's the Somebody Who ought to be on our minds at all times!
He's the Somebody we ought to daydream about!
He's the Somebody we ought to write love songs about!
He's the Somebody we ought to write poetry about!
He's the Somebody Who ought to give us butterfly’s!
He's the Somebody Who ought to compel us to do crazy things because of love!
He's the Somebody Who's our all in all and will never let us fall!
He's the Somebody worthy of everything we've got!
He's the Somebody worth dying for!
He's the Somebody worth giving up all our hopes and dreams for!
He's the Somebody Who loves us nobodies, who are making false somebodies out of anybody, He loves us so much that He became a nobody on that cross where He died and then rose up from the dead so that we could be saved and exalt Him as the Somebody of somebodies now and for all eternity!

That's my King!  That's my Somebody!

May God grant us grace to trust King Jesus as our Somebody today!

"That's My King!" Whose Body Was Broken Throughout And His Blood Poured Out For Us He Went Without He's The Most Devout Without A Doubt And His Work's What This Supper Is All About!

He's the broken One, but He's also Unbreakable! 

He's the broken One and the Unbroken, Unbreakable One all at the same time!

He was more broke than anyone's ever been broken!

He was broker than the brokest and more broken than anyone's ever been broken in the history of this broken universe!

He's the unbreakable of all unbreakables!

He can't be broken!

He won't be broken!

He broke the grave!  

He broke all evil!  

He broke the devil!  

He broke our sin! 

He broke death!  

He broke all that's broken to heal it all forever!

Not a bone of His body was broken!  

He's Lamb Who was slain and the Lion of the Tribe of Judah all at the same time!

He rose up from the dead!  

He's unbreakable!  

He's unstoppable!  

He's uncontainable!  

He's irresistible!

Herod tried to break Him and kill Him as soon as He was born!  

But He's unbreakable!

The Devil tried to break Him when he tempted Him in the wilderness three times, but He's unbreakable!

The Pharisees and Sadducees and all other kinds of wicked ones you see tried to break Him with their words games and crafty traps, but He always answered them in such a way that left them speechless – He's unbreakable!

That's my King! Do you know Him?!

His body was broken just as He's spoken now the bread is a token of His love that's unbroken!

The most beautiful body; the most extraordinary body; the most valuable body; the most precious body; the most perfect and sinless body; the only satisfying body: 

This body He gave 

And was made deprave 

Though perfect and brave 

He died to save 

And rose from the grave 

To make us His slave 

And Him alone crave!

That's my King!

His body was broken. The most beautiful body; the most extraordinary body; the most valuable body; the most precious body; the most perfect and sinless body; the only satisfying body; the God-Man body: This body was the most broken body that has ever crossed the horizon of this world!

That's my King!

His body was broken. His body was left more broken than broke

They ripped off His cloak 

And left Him naked like a joke

They jeered and they spit, but He never once spoke

May this love our hearts stoke

And compassion evoke 

For the lost and the broke

So good works He'll provoke!

That's my King!

His body was broken. 

His appearance was so disfigured that He didn't look like a man

It's like He was cut up and sliced by a fan

Or had His body through a meat grinder ran

And Muslims want me to believe the Quran? 

No! "Christ is all!" the span

And He's still better than everything since time's began!

That's my King! I wonder if you know Him today?!

His body was broken. But He's unbreakable!
He lived a sinless life unshakable!
He rose up from the dead indestructible!
He's unexplainable!
Everything He was and does is treasurable!
He gives life everlasting pleasurable!
He's invulnerable!
He's unmistakable!
He's unchangeable!
He's unbelievable and believable all at the same time!

That's my King!

He's unimpeachable!
He's unbeatable!
He does the impossible!
He's indescribable!
He's irrefutable!
He's unforgettable!
But sometimes He'll leave you uncomfortable!
He's available!
He's infinitely lovable!
He's unavoidable!
He's inescapable!

That's my King! 

Christ Jesus Is Our Sumptuous Feast

In Him There Is No Sin Or Yeast

His Body Killed Our Heav’nly Feast

His Blood Poured Out Till His Life Ceased

He Bore God’s Wrath As Our High Priest

Then Rose Again So Death’s Deceased

All Sins Are Gone From Great To Least

Removed As Far As West To East

Our Taste For Sin Is Gone Decreased 

Life For His Glory More Increased

To Live For Christ We’ve Been Released

Delight In Him Our Pleasure Feast!

"That's My King!" Over All False Teachers!

False teachers abound
They're walking around
May their false teaching fall to the ground
In anger the ground I pound
Like Paul I wish they'd cut off all they propound
Their doctrine's not sound
They're lost and not found
By Satan their minds are bound
But God still pursues like the heavenly hound!
Their false teaching He'll confound
God's Word we must expound
And all their arguments confound
For Jesus is God - most highly renowned!
He's utterly profound!
We preach Him as crowned!
May His praises resound!
As the angels surround!
In God's wrath He was drowned!
Then He rose from the ground!
He's "Christ is all!" - the greatest around!

"That's My King!" Who's The Greatest Man Ever Born Though By Betrayal He Was Worn, Torn, Silent Like A Sheep Shorn, Treated With Scorn, And Pierced With Thorn He Rose To Be Salvation's Horn!

If Jesus was not born, it would be better if no one was ever born
All would have a Judas heart
All would deny God
All would be lost
All would be in hell
All would perish
All would die, forever
But Jesus was born; He was betrayed; and He died and rose so that we might live!

There would be no salvation
There would be no amazing grace
There would be no hope
There would be no forgiveness
There would be no joy
There would be no heaven

There would be no Bible
There would be no seed of the woman to crush the head of the serpent, Satan
There would be no one who fulfilled all the prophecies about the coming Messiah
There would be no suffering Servant Who was wounded for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities
There would be no fountain filled with blood drawn from Immanuel's veins!
But Jesus was born; He was betrayed; and He died and rose so that we might live!

If Jesus was not born, it would be better if no one was ever born
There would be no God-Man
There would be no greatest phenomenon that has ever crossed the horizon of this world!
There would be no blessed assurance, Jesus is mine, oh what a foretaste of glory divine!
There would be no Jesus what a friend of sinners!
There would be no incarnate King of kings and Lord of lords; Alpha and Omega; Beginning and End; or First and Last Whose love is vast and can't be past or outclassed because "Christ is all!" and unsurpassed!
Because Jesus was born; He was betrayed; and He died and rose so that we might live!

If Jesus was not born, it would be better if no one was ever born
There would be no hope in your depression or despair
There would be no friend Who will never leave you nor forsake you in your loneliness
There would be no Lover Who satisfies like no other when you have nobody else
There would be no comfort in your sorrow
There would be no firm foundation when all around your soul gives way
But Jesus was born; He was betrayed; and He died and rose so that we might live!

If Jesus was not born, it would be better if no one was ever born
There would be no Savior
There would be no Immanuel
There would be no Redeemer
There would be no Messiah
There would be no Mediator
There would be no Lion of the Tribe of Judah
There would be no Lord Our Righteousness
There would be no Holy One of God
There would be no Second and Last Adam
There would be no Desire of All the Nations
There would be no Author and the Finisher of Our Faith
There would be no Horn of Salvation
There would be no Image of the Invisible God
There would be no Fullness of the Godhead Bodily
There would be no The Way, the Truth, the Life
There would be no Bread of Life
There would be no Living Water
There would be no Good Shepherd
There would be no Resurrection and the Life
There would be no Rose of Sharon
There would be no Lily of the Valley
There would be no Altogether Lovely One
There would be no Fairest among Ten Thousand
There would be no Bright and Morning Star
There would be no Lamb of God Who takes away the sins of the world
There would be no Beloved Son in Whom God is well pleased
But Jesus was born; He was betrayed; and He died and rose so that we might live!

If Jesus was not born, it would be better if no one was ever born
And there cannot be enough written about what would not be if He were not born
Because the earth cannot contain the books that could be written about Him because He was born
I could have gone on and given you over two hundred names of Jesus that would not be if He wasn't born
Paul wouldn't have had anything to preach about if he wasn't born because Paul knew nothing to preach except Jesus Christ and Him crucified
There would be nothing more for me to ever say from this pulpit again if Jesus was not born
There would no church anywhere, and we wouldn't know what to do!
But Jesus was born; He was betrayed; and He died and rose so that we might live!

"That's My King!" Who Moves Your Heart To Sing With The Most Exciting Ring To Him Alone We Cling From Whom All Joy Shall Spring!

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

He's always worthy to be the most excited about!

Are you excited about good food? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about your job? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that new toy? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about music? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about arts and culture? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about the beauty in this world? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that new boyfriend or girlfriend? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about getting engaged? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about getting married? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about sex? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that new little baby? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that grade you got on that test? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about your greatest successes in this life? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about your vacation? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about friends and family? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that party? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that new TV, computer, house, car or any other thing? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that book? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that movie? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about sports? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about that hobby? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about the fruit of the Spirit evident in your life? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about leading sinners to Jesus? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited when sinners repent and believe in Jesus? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about your future? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about your life? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about having a lot of money? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about yourself? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about being excited about Jesus? Be more excited about Jesus!

Are you excited about anything at all? Be more excited about Jesus!

Always be more excited about Jesus! Out rejoice everybody with joy in Jesus! He is worthy!

Oh Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, please grant us this joy in Jesus in our hearts!

For Jesus' sake! Amen!

"That's My King!" Who's The Passover Lamb, The Substitute Ram, And The Great “I AM”, So We Can Become Children Of Abraham!

We've been passed over

The Lamb has been slaughtered

Blood has been poured out

Sin has been atoned for

The wrath of God has been quenched

Because Jesus was not passed over

We've been passed over

Judgment upon sin has been executed

The curse of God has fallen

Hell's flames toward us have been extinguished

The Lamb of God has taken away the sin of the world

Because Jesus was not passed over

We've been passed over

Just like God's people in Egypt were passed over

The lamb without blemish was slain

The blood of the lamb was put on the doorposts

Those in the house were saved, safe, and satisfied

While the first born child in every Egyptian house was destroyed

All the first born children of Israel were kept alive

The LORD and His destroyer passed over their homes

But Jesus was not passed over

We've been passed over

Even though we don't deserve to be passed over

Like undeserving Israel, we complain and murmur against God

We don't love Him as we ought

We don't trust Him as we ought

We don't delight in Him as we ought

We don't obey Him as we ought

We don't love our neighbors as ourselves as we ought

And we sin as we ought not

But oh don't you know – by the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ it's all been taken care of forever

Because Jesus was not passed over!

We've been passed over

God's curse has passed over us

God's wrath has passed over us

God's judgment has passed over us

God's hell has passed over us

God's eternal and infinite condemnation has passed over us forever

Because Jesus was not passed over!

We've been passed over

But Jesus was wickedly turned over

Judas betrayed Him over

Pilate unjustly condemned Him over

Peter denied Him over and over and over

The soldiers mocked, beat, and spit on Him all over

Our sins were counted as His all over

Even His Father forsook Him as He cried out to Him over and over

And wicked men and the devil thought it was all over

Because Jesus was not passed over, But let me tell you something – it is not over!

We've been passed over

But let me tell you that when Jesus died on that cross it was not all over

Oh tell yourself this over and over – that's it's not over – it's never over because of Jesus our Passover!

Whatever good you think is over in your life – dead and hopeless and lifeless and over – it's not over because of Jesus our Passover!

Because He came to turn over what's over and make all things new over; He gives you a do-over; And can do the ultimate make-over that will leave you praising Him all over and over!

For He has been raised up over all that seems over and rules over all with all authority over heaven and over earth!

Because Jesus was not passed over!

We've been passed over

Because Jesus rose up from the dead and rules as King over death!

He rules as King over sin!

He rules as King over the grave!

He rules as King over Satan!

He rules as King over the world!

He rules as King over our flesh!

He rules as King over all His and your enemies!

He rules as King over all as the Christ Who is all in all!

All because He was not passed over!

We've been passed over

So now we live to tell about Christ our Passover Who was not passed over!

The same Holy Spirit that raised Him from the dead to rule and reign over all is dwelling in you!

He grants you power over death!

He grants you power over sin!

He grants you power over the grave!

He grants you power over Satan!

He grants you power over the world and the flesh!

He grants you power over all of your enemies so that you are more than a conqueror through Him Who loves you!

Oh you've been passed over because our God so loved you that He gave His only begotten Son so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life!

Oh, yes – we've been passed over!

Because Jesus, our Passover, was not passed over!

Unleashed Over Us God’s Judgment Slam

But Christ Took It All – God’s Anger Damn

"That's My King!" Who's Worthy Of Extravagant Devotion With Greatest Delight In Every Emotion For He Swallowed God's Curse And Fury Ocean Then Rose From The Dead To The Extreme Promotion!

We waste a lot

We waste time

We waste money

We waste God-given gifts

We waste opportunities

We even get wasted

We waste certain years of our lives

Some people even waste their whole life

But you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We waste a lot

The Scribes and Pharisees viciously wasted the very Messiah their Scriptures spoke about

Jesus' disciples wasted an opportunity to rejoice in the value of their Master

Judas Iscariot wasted the very Savior Who chose him to be a disciple for 30 pieces of silver

But they don't know that you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We waste a lot

We waste time worrying when God says be anxious for nothing

We waste time fearing when God says fear not

We waste time sinning when God says redeem the time for the days are evil

We waste time doubting when Jesus says only believe

We waste time desiring all manner of things in this world when Jesus is the Desire of all nations

Because you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We waste a lot

We waste money and aren't even as concerned about the poor as Jesus is

We waste money on lottery tickets

We waste money on illegal drugs and alcohol to get drunk

We waste money on pornography and prostitutes

We waste money on ourselves

But you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We waste a lot

We waste our purity on promiscuity 

We waste our energy on anger

We waste our desires on coveting and comparing ourselves with others

We waste our relationships on love for me, myself, and I

We waste our holiness on rebellion

But you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We waste a lot

But this woman who anointed Jesus didn't waste one drop

She gave the best to Jesus; Shall you give your best to Jesus?

She gave the most expensive to Jesus; Shall you give the most expensive to Jesus?

She gave it all to Jesus; Shall you give your all to Jesus?

She gave it only to Jesus; Shall you give your all to Jesus only?

Because Jesus is worthy of the best

Jesus is worthy of the most expensive

Jesus is worthy of our all in all for He is the all in all

And you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We waste a lot

But Jesus never wasted anything

He redeemed every part of every second of every time most effectively for the glory of His Father to save us from all of our wasted time

He maximized the use of money even though His money manager was a master deceiver and denier

He glorified God perfectly with His greatest gifts by giving them all up on that cross

He made the absolute maximum most of every opportunity to love the LORD His God will all of His heart, mind, soul, and strength, and to love His neighbor as Himself so that we might be saved

He was totally left as waste and wounded for our transgressions and absorbed the wrath of God on that cross in our place so that we might be forgiven

He rose up from the dead to save us from all our waste and to turn all our wastefulness into wonderful redemption

So that now, because of the great love with which He loved us: where our waste abounds His grace abounds all the more

For this reason and many more, you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We may have wasted a lot in our lives

But Jesus' life was poured out like precious ointment on that cross so that we might live to never waste again

Now we live for Him, and you can't waste anything on Jesus

Basic Christianity is extravagant devotion to our King

You'll waste no time on Jesus!

You'll waste no money on Jesus!

You'll waste no love on Jesus!

You'll waste no desire on Jesus!

You'll waste no devotion on Jesus!

You'll waste no commitment on Jesus!

You'll waste no obedience on Jesus!

You'll waste no sacrifice on Jesus!

You'll waste no delight on Jesus!

You'll waste no worship on Jesus!

Spend it all! Spend it all! Spend it all! Oh Christian spend it all on Jesus Christ!

He alone can forgive!

He alone can heal!

He alone can save!

He alone can satisfy!

He alone can fulfill every hope and dream and longing you've ever had times 10 Trillion times 10 Trillion!

Come and taste and see that He is good!

Because you can't waste anything on Jesus!

Christ Jesus Is Worthy Of All Our Devotion

His Glory And Beauty Are Vast Like The Ocean

We Love Him With Words, Thoughts, Acts, And Emotion

He Died And Then Rose Showing Greatest Devotion

By Faith Alone Our Sins Cast In The Ocean

Because Of His Work Our Hearts Put Into Motion

All For His Fame And Glory Promotion

When You Give Him Your All, There’s Never A Waste

You Can’t Give Him Too Much, He Can’t Be Out Paced

She Prepared Him For Burial, For Death He Would Taste

Extravagant Devotion, Her Faith In Him Placed

For All Her Sins By His Work Are Erased

On That Cross He’s Debased, Defaced, And Disgraced

So That Now For Our Sin We Have A Distaste

And Hunger For Righteousness With It’s Been Replaced

Oh! With What Mercy And Love We’ve Been Graced

For Jesus Our Lover And All We’ve Embraced!

Because you can't waste anything on Jesus!

We've fallen asleep

Sin has won

Death has come

The Devil has triumphed

But he didn't know that One would come Who would never fall asleep!

His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

We've fallen asleep

Adam and Eve slept in the garden and ate the forbidden fruit

Nakedness became shameful

They tried to hide from God

They blamed everyone but themselves

We became totally depraved

The creation was all cursed

But it was cursed in hope of the Last Adam Who would never fall asleep!

His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

We've fallen asleep

Noah got drunk

Abraham lied about his wife and had sex with Hagar

Jacob was a lying, deceiver

Judah was a whore-monger

David was a murderous adulterer

Israel committed adultery on her wedding night by making a golden calf

The whole history of Israel is one of rebellion and disobedience to God

But don't you know that the only true Israelite Who has ever crossed the horizon of this world never fell asleep!

His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

We've fallen asleep

John the Baptist came preaching to try and wake us up

But the Pharisees kept sleeping and missed their own Messiah

The disciples couldn't stay awake in the Garden of Gethsemane

And they all fled and left Jesus alone in His greatest time of need

Judas kept sleeping and betrayed his only Savior

Peter kept sleeping and denied the Way, the Truth, and the Life

Pilate kept sleeping and unjustly condemned the Righteous One

Israel kept sinning and killed their own Messiah

But True Israel never fell asleep though He'd weep, suffer deep, die for His sheep, of evil make a clean sweep, then up from the grave He'd leap to all His people keep with a grace that's far from cheap!

And His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

We've fallen asleep

But Jesus came to bear in His body on that tree all the sins that have resulted from our sleepiness

He stayed awake when He had no food for forty days

He stayed awake when Satan was tempting

He stayed awake when the Pharisees tried to kill Him

He stayed awake when Judas betrayed Him, Peter denied Him, and all His disciples left Him alone

He stayed awake when they spit on Him, beat Him, stripped Him naked, made fun of Him, and put a crown of thorns on His head – Oh He stayed awake! He stayed awake for His Father's glory! And He stayed awake for You!

He stayed awake when they nailed His hands and feet to that tree!

He stayed awake when He was all alone and naked and thirsting and dying and suffering on that cross!  

He stayed awake!

He stayed awake when the Father crushed Him with the wrath, judgment, and curse that we deserve!  

He stayed awake and cried:  “My God! My God! Why have You forsaken Me?!”

He stayed awake. He stayed awake for you because He loves you. And then He died.

His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

We've fallen asleep

But He has awakened from the dead! He is risen! He is risen indeed!

He's alive to wake you up! And wake you up forever!

And He lives awake forevermore to save all those who would turn from sin and trust in Him!

So that now we can fall asleep no more!  

Because His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

Now we stay awake!

We believe in Him!

We trust in Him!

We delight in Him!

We treasure Him!

We follow Him!

We turn from sin and fight sin!

We die to self!

We seek to live faithfully and do whatever He calls us to do!

We seek to make disciples of all nations, teaching them to obey all that Jesus has commanded!

We are enabled and empowered by His Spirit to obey all that He has commanded us for the glory of God!

We are being conformed into the image of Christ day by day for the glory of our King!

And even now He stays awake and prays and intercedes for us according to the will of God!

Because His name is Jesus, and He always stayed awake!

Christ Jesus Comes When None Will Know

Except The Father Who’ll Bestow

His Grace And Mercy Down Below

Food And Drink And Marriage Though

Christ Comes To Judge, They’re Taken Low

And Swept Away In Judgment Woe

So Now Be Ready, You Must Know

That God’s Great Love In Christ He’d Show

Then Rose Alive, God’s Mercies Flow
